Sponsored by the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and organized by the Institute of Earth Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the International Training Program on Soil Carbon Cycling in Drylands along the Belt and Road Countries is scheduled to be held in Xi'an from August 17thto 31st, 2024.

This training program will be attended by 24 outstanding young researchers from 11 Belt and Road countries, including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Cameroon, Iran, Egypt, Rwanda, Nepal, and Ethiopia.

The training program will invite renowned scholars in the field of soil carbon cycling from both China and abroad to deliver lectures. Through various teaching methods, including theoretical research, laboratory experiments, field surveys, and analysis of typical case studies, the program aims to provide young scholars from the Belt and Road countries with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental knowledge of soil carbon cycling in drylands. Ultimately, this training course is expected to foster scientific and educational cooperation among the Belt and Road countries. The hosting of this course is anticipated to play a positive role in assisting countries along the route to enhance their ability to cope with climate change and strengthening China's scientific and technological influence in these countries.
